South Africa to host IPL | IPL 2009 | International Premier League

Cricket South Africa has been confirmed to host 2009 season of the IPL. IPL commissioner Lalit Modi and Cricket South Africa, CEO Gerald Majola announced the news formally in a press conference in Johannesburg. The tournment will begin a delay of about one week from the original schedule of April 10, 2009. The IPL be held between April 18 and May 24.

Six venues Johannesburg, Durban, Centurion, Port Elizabeth, East London and Cape Town are the host venues. Lalit Modi said "The overwhelming reason that we chose South Africa is primarily the weather conditions."

Cricket South Africa, CEO Gerald Majola has assured the BCCI that the top-class security for the cricketers and also use of the country's main stadiums.
